Program note

The Peach Blossom Spring is a Chinese ancient story written by Tao Yuanming. It’s about a chance discovery of an ethereal utopia where the people lead an ideal existence in harmony with nature, unaware of the outside world for centuries. It’s somehow like eastern Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The protagonists of the stories all accidentally enter a fantasy world, and the readers outside the story gain the power to explore. Through the music, I aim to capture both the enchantment of this peaceful haven and the deeper, more universal longing it symbolizes. As adults, we may recognize that such idealistic places are often unreachable, yet the pursuit of these fairy tales and dreams becomes a source of motivation and inspiration, prompting us to leave home, explore, and seek out beauty in the world.
